A Romantic Evening of Wine, Chocolate, and Gypsy Jazz Saturday, February 14, 2009 - 8:00 PM The Hot Club of Phoenix are guitarists Chuck Hulihan and Ryan Vance alongside Armand Ramirez on upright bass. Performing a style of hot jazz often called gypsy swing or gypsy jazz, an homage to the influence of the great gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, the famous musician who defined european jazz by blending his musical roots with the swing era of american jazz while redefining how the guitar could be played. Hot Club of Phoenix blends the influence of gypsy swing with their own music roots in classical chamber music, flamenco, heavy metal, and many folk genres. Hot Club of Phoenix is a core trio, but can often be heard in larger combinations with various guest musicians who help define that 'hot club' sound. Tickets will be available beginning December 1. |
